Located on a clifftop plateau along the southern coastline of Bali on the Bukit Peninsula, Alila Villas Uluwatu is just 30 minutes from Ngurah Rai International airport and 15 minutes from Jimbaran Bay near the renowned Uluwatu Temple.

Alila Villas Uluwatu is designed by award-winning Singapore architectural firm, WOHA, which has built a global reputation for innovative design for projects in tropical environments earning it the Royal Australian Institute of Architect's (RAIA) International Award at the 2006 National Architecture Awards in Brisbane for their House on Rochalie Drive in Singapore, and Architectural Review MIPIM future projects award for The Met, a high-rise condominium in Bangkok, to name a few. Since 1989, directors Wong Mun Summ and Richard Hassell have been involved in the cutting edge of Asian hospitality design, having worked on many well-known hotel and villa developments.

Richard Hassell speaks of this eco-friendly project …"We are very pleased that Alila Hotels have embraced the Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles, and we are using many ESD measures including local materials, water conservation with soaks and rain gardens and recycling with grey water systems, using local plants from the special Bali Savannah ecosystem on the Bukit, which are being raised in a nursery on site to encourage local bird and animal life, heat pumps for water heating, salt water pools - among many others. The resort is registered for Green Globe certification, and will be the first hotel in Bali to get the highest level of certification for ESD. As it is built into the resort from the beginning, there will be a strong combination of the built fabric and on-going operations side working together to reduce the long-term ecological footprint of the resort."

The design of the interiors is completely integrated with the architecture, as the design flows from inside to outside. All the materials are locally sourced. These beautiful local materials are environmentally sound and support the local communities.

Alila Villas Uluwatu features 84 villas which are specifically designed and constructed to follow an environmentally sustainable framework, with private pool and cabana overlooking the Indian Ocean. The villas showcase contemporary interiors enhanced with touches of nature and traditional Balinese accents – reflected in planes of wood, water, stone and rattan. Walkways and bridges connect the relaxation pavilions and pools to the spacious living areas. The open-plan design, unique flat lava rock roofs and bamboo ceilings allow the gentle sea breeze to circulate throughout all rooms of the villas.

The Warung at Alila Villas Uluwatu presents authentic wholesome Indonesian and Balinese cuisine. With open kitchen, indoor and outdoor setting in sophisticated space, the friendly and convivial atmosphere enables diners to have a casual, laidback experience with dramatic backdrop of the cliff and Indian Ocean. Try signature Balinese dishes “Sate Lilit” and “Ayam Betutu” with choice of red, white or yellow rice. Open from 11:00 till late.

Headed by Chef Stefan Szijta, the contemporary western cuisine in CIRE are prepared with only the freshest and where possible, organic, regional produce are prepared with Western cooking methods, passion and care. CIRE’s finer touches include premium glassware and luxurious 300 thread-count table linen. Pronounced “Seer”, CIRE refers to a process of waxing and polishing, paying tribute to the 2500 batik stamps which decorate the restaurant. Guests in search of a discreet fine-dining experience will not only be impressed by the exquisitely plated dishes, but will also be pleased with the restaurant’s smart configuration, with the addition of cleverly placed screens and art pieces to allow each party the exclusiveness of their own private dining area.
